How and where is Flarø Douglas manufactured?
The wood is sawn, planed, cut to length and finally assembled to panels at our partner Overgaard Wood in Fredericia.
Customisation and variations
Can I order a customised size or colour of Flarø?
For larger projects, such as a whole office building or an entire floor, we can have new colours developed, however, for smaller projects the colours showcased on this page are our standard options. The standard wood finish and Nærø batt colours can be combined to create this. If you wish, you can repaint the product yourself. We can also adjust the size; please reach out to us with your specific request to receive a cost estimate.
What tolerance can I expect on the Flarø panels, in terms of deviance in size?
There are many tolerances within production. But in general you can expect a tolerance of ±1 mm per m.
How can I adjust or alter Flarø Douglas post purchase?
The wood can be treated like any other wooden product. It can be repainted, stripped, sawn, planed, etc. The panel is joined together with soft nails and a regular one-component waterborne PVAc wood glue. This can be cut through with a regular circular saw and a new brace can be added to the back, we deliver braces with the panel if required. We are currently working on exchanging glue and nails for a screw-joined solution. If the panelling is to be installed partially on a wall, we can deliver end pieces to the side of the panel to make for a complete look.
Handling
How should I mount and handle the Flarø panel to not damage it?
See the mounting guide for mounting instructions. To be certain that the surface treatment is not damaged unnecessarily, do not take the panel out of its original packaging prior to the moment you need to install it. If you do need to check the quality of the panels or have concerns over the finish, be sure to handle with care if you need to re-package the material. The wax finish is very sturdy, but ultimately not completely resistant to scratching.

Fusø
Plastic board made from worn out Carlsberg Draughtmaster beer kegs
General
What is Fusø made of and how much is waste based? Does it contain any hazardous substances?
No, the boards are made of 100% food-safe plastic (rPET, rPP, rPA and rPE) from Carlsberg beer kegs. Carlsberg ensures that our kegs are clean, free of toxic materials, etc., before they hand them over to us, from there we have a complete traceability of the production line from kegs to your Fusø board..
Can you take my plastic waste and make it into a customised board?
No, the production requires a specific mix of polymers.
What can I use the plastic boards for?
As Fusø is a tabletop made of 100% food-safe plastic, it should adhere to regulations for most regular tabletop applications. It is not approved for use in industrial kitchens. If you would like advice on a specific case, please reach out to us.
Is the surface of Fusø smooth?
If bought with surface treatment, the surface is semi-glossy and smooth, but may contain smaller pits or irregularities. We advise you to have a look at a sample before purchase.
Manufacturing
How and where is Fusø manufactured?
The product is produced in Denmark and made with waste also collected in Denmark. The material is heat pressed and partly melts, to fuse it together. No glue or adhesive is added in the process.
Recycling
Is the material recyclable?
Yes, the tabletop can be recycled as hard plastic. Fusø can also be cut up for e.g., shelves or any other application you might find suitable. We also offer take-back services for reuse or remanufacturing into as-new products.
Customisation and variations
Can I order a customised colour of Fusø?
We generally don’t offer customised colours as the colour mix is determined by the input material and we don’t dye it. However, we are working on different colour options and expressions than dark green. Please reach out to us with your specific request.
Which sizes and shapes do you offer of Fusø?
Our standard size is 79cm x 179cm x 2cm. For more information on sizing see the ‘Dimensions’ section on this page. The ‘raw’ sheet material comes out of manufacture in 80cm x 180cm x 2cm and can be purchased as such. However, we recommend purchasing with edge and surface treatment, which results in our standard offered size and a higher quality finish. We’re happy to help you cut the boards into a specific size or shape.
Mounting and installation
How can I mount Fusø or mount things to Fusø? How should I handle the product to not damage it?
For the best results pre-drill the material and use screws with a wide thread. To be certain that the surface treatment is not damaged unnecessarily, do not take the panel out of its original packaging prior to the moment you need to install it. If you do need to check the quality of the panels or have concerns over the finish, be sure to handle it with care if you need to re-package the material. The wax finish is very sturdy, but ultimately not completely resistant to scratching.
How can I ensure proper structural support if used as a tabletop?
For the best results, use a frame construction, which supports the entire tabletop. We do not recommend the use of a frame that only provides support in single points. We recommend that Fusø overhang its frame by more than 15cm in either direction. The tabletop can be supported by an I-profile shaped frame, where all corners have support, as well as down the middle, however, be mindful that the best support is a square shape where the whole tabletop is supported equally.
How can I adjust or alter Fusø post-purchase? How can I join several Fusø tabletops?
Fusø can be cut with a regular circular saw and in general be treated like a regular wooden product. Be aware that heat from high friction may remelt the plastic slightly. Therefore, be sure to run your tools at lower speeds and go slowly. If the surface gets scratched or whenever new cuts are made, we recommend sanding the surface with grit 120, 180,, and finally with a Scotch-Brite pad for the best result. A skilled craftsman can join the material with a sealant combined with a tongue and groove connection. On our end, we recommend making a clear connection between two edges using a spacer material, e.g., wood.
Bronsø
Thermally treated wood facade cladding made of discarded material from other production
General
Does it effect the durability that the wood is discarded?
No, the wood is thermo treated all the way through, and the wood is therefore protected in cracks and where nots have fallen out. The wood does not absorb moisture to the same degree as untreated wood.
Does Bronsø contain any hazardous substances?
No, the treatment consists exclusively of the use of heat and steam at temperatures between 190 and 212 ° C. The finished product is 100% natural and completely free of chemicals. During the heat treatment, resin, turpentine, and formaldehyde disappear, which makes the wood resistant to fungal and mould attacks and places the wood in durability class 2 without oil treatment.
What fire retardant/impregnation do you use?
The wood can be delivered fire-impregnated from Burnblock and thus achieves a fire class Bs1d0. The product is made of 100% natural ingredients: 100% biodegradable, 0% toxic substances, PH neutral and Cradle to cradle GOLD certified. Impregnation does not wash out and requires no surface treatment.
Do Bonsø need any surface treatment?
No, without treatment thermo wood is classified as durability class 2 (BS EN 350) “durable” and carries a British Research Establishment (BRE) endorsement stating an expected service life of 30 years when used as cladding and decking.
Customisation and variations
Can I order a customised Bronsø cladding?
Mix our standard profiles as you want to get a unique look for your project. For large orders we can customise the profile to your needs. However, the thickness will always be 18mm, width of the board is defined by the available stock, and we always deliver in falling lengths.

Viddø
A window system based on glass units discarded in Danish window production
General
What sizes of walls can you deliver? What’s the optimal module size?
The optimal wall size is 2,7×4,2 m. We can deliver windows walls from 1,5×2 m and larger.
What parameters influence the price?
The window size and depth, the profile type, the finish, the amount of doors and openable windows, and other customer-specific needs affect the price.
Is the wall a supporting construction element, i.e. can it hold weight?
No, the modules are not intended to bear weight. They are mounted after the supporting elements are in place.
Will I see the design before I make up my mind?
Yes, we will always provide you with 2-5 different layout options and verify the design with you before placing an order.
What kind of defects can appear on the windows?
The glass units performs just as well as any other modern virgin glass unit. However, they are discarded due to visual defects, including: scratches, colour flaws, dimension tolerances, fingerprints inside the IGU and displaced spacers.
Reuse
How many of the windows are reused? Will I see the difference between the new and old IGUs?
The amount of reused windows will depend on hole and available glass. Around 70% is to be expected. This will also be communicated when reviewing different layout options. For a higher percentage of reused windows – please reach out early in the project and leave some room for flexible sizing. If we can define the hole in the projetcs facade from the available windows, rather than the other way around, very high percentages are possible. The reused windows can be identified on their original small branding and marking. Visibly from afar, the most prominent quality is that the windows can have different colour finishes, resulting in a facade that from some angles display a play of different tints in the windows. This is noticeable in specific light reflections.
Customisation and variations
Can I design my own layout?
No, you cannot design your own layout as the windows we have in stock vary over time. However, we’ll always include you in the design process and make sure we find a solution that you’re happy with. Typically, we’ll provide 2-5 different layout options that you can choose between.

What defects can occur on the planks? How many defects are there?
All planks have qualities of different types that leads to them being discards in production. Most of them are visual such as knots, water damages, off-coloured surface finish, etc. They can also be smaller physical qualities such as cracks, smaller gaps, uneven surface finish, etc. Lastly and least common are larger physical qualities that should be repaired such as larger cracks, missing knots, gaps in the wood etc. For more info on qualities and their quantities please read our surface quality sheet found in our Download Centre.
Customisation and Variations
Can I choose a different combination of wood types?
Funderø comes in a standard combination of either beech and maple or oak and ash. The chosen combination is also in a mix of a glossier and matter surface treatment, one for each wood. While we do not recommend another combination of these wood types, if your project is large enough and it would fit the occasion – reach out to us and we can discuss your preferred combination.
Maintenance and Installation
Does the floor need treatment after installation?
The floor is pretreated with a lacquer but filling of bigger holes and cracks is needed. The boards are discarded in production and contain a wider spectrum of surface qualities than a virgin material standard flooring. We suggest that only the bigger cavities are repaired. Expect 10 fillings per 50 m2. For more info on qualities and their quantities please read our surface quality sheet found in our Download Centre.
Can I mount the planks in a different pattern?
We do not recommend mounting the planks in a different pattern than the ones we specify. The quantities delivered will be specific for the intended pattern, specified upon order.
Tystø
Tystø is a partitioning wall system made from used glass and discarded wood
General
What are the acoustic properties of the walls? (Do you offer sound testing at site after installation?)
So far, we can supply a DB glass value that is calculated from the composition of the glass units that we harvest. Reach out to find out what we have in stock. We do not offer sound testing at site after installation.
What parameters determine the price?
Number of doors, any special customisation, and the Installation site accessibility (stairs etc.) affect the square meter price.
What module sizes are possible? Are there any dimension limitations?
Module width will typically be approx. 1m. For very slim modules the price will go up as for other partitioning systems. Maximum height will be around 3,5 meters but reach out maybe we can find a solution together.
Installation
Where can Tystø be mounted?
Basically, anywhere you would normally mount glass partitioning walls. The available glass units cannot be changed in size and hereby define the module width but the wall can fit in any giving whole.
Customisation
Is it possible to have the product made with my own demolition glass?
Yes, we can deliver partitioning modules that matches your own glass units. In that case the customer supplies the measurements of the glass units and take the full responsibility of the glass units including storage. We will gladly help you mount the wall.
Can I have alu frames instead of wood or another wood type than pine?
No, the frames will always be made from discarded pine wood. We can supply the frames painted black so that the wall better matches other walls in your project.
Can I design my own layout?
No, you cannot design your own layout as the windows we have in stock vary over time. However, we’ll always include you in the design process and make sure we find a solution that you’re happy with.
Disassembly
Is Tystø designed for disassembly?
Yes, Tystø is truly designed for easy maintenance, repair and reduction of both present and future waste. The glass units can easily be disassembled from the wooden parts and reused in future glass walls.
