Carlsberg Academy

Fusø used in carlsberg academy as a bar

Project description

Between August 2019 and December 2021, the Carlsberg Academy underwent an extensive programme of restoration, refurbishment, and technical upgrading. In the summer of 2019, the Carlsberg Foundation initiated extensive restoration work on the old buildings on the plot of land, which, in addition to the Italianate-Classical main building, include the Winter Garden, the Pompeii Hall, a terrace, and the magnificent gardens.

The aim of the work was to return the Carlsberg Academy to something approaching its original aesthetic look and to futureproof the buildings, which since 1995 have been a venue for scientific symposiums and conferences. The ambition was to return the Academy to how it originally looked in the mid-1800s when Brewer J.C. Jacobsen built the villa as his family home. This ambition has been successfully achieved.

The beer bar in the conservatory has been completely designed by Tuxen Design. This bar, serving Carlsberg's famous beer - known as "probably the best beer in the world" - aims to reflect the extreme care, craftsmanship, and quality consciousness so deeply rooted in Carlsberg. It's a homage to the meticulous craftsmanship and quality obsession that runs deep in the Carlsberg DNA.

The showstopper bar front is crafted from Carlsberg's iconic plastic beer anchors - granulated, molded, and adorned with shiny brass accents that scream opulence! It's like discovering a hidden gem amidst the lush greenery of the conservatory.

The cozy wall-mounted bar tables are an extension of the bar's design philosophy, featuring the same materials and decorative elements that make the bar a beer lover's paradise. Visitors are invited to come and experience the magic of Carlsberg Academy.

Fusø Draughmaster tabletops

Fusø table tops are produced from 100% post-consumer waste from Carlsberg’s disposable DraughtMaster kegs. We repurpose the kegs to a solid board. The combination of black and green results in a marble-like appearance.
