Funderø upcycled parquet flooring gives the traditional parquet floor a modern and environmentally friendly update, without compromising on JUNCKERS' high quality. Funderø is upcycled from offcuts, originating from JUNCKERS' flooring production. Since JUNCKERS offers a wide range of wood species and finishes, our products are designed with mixes of these. With variations in both material and finish, each floor has a unique and visually interesting look, without taking up too much attention in the space. We believe that what sets Funderø apart is our work with mixing wood species, giving our parquet flooring a unique look and feel. We generally offer two groupings of wood species; 'Classic Danish' and 'Classic Court'. Funderø Classic Danish is a mix of ash and oak giving it a rich, classic aesthetic, that would fit any boardroom nicely.

*Per m2. For Banded layout. Based on internal LCA, calculations for phases A1-A3, C1-C4

1  Collection
Aesthetic features not suited for Junckers regular products are cut off and cut out
2  Length cutting
The features are cut out of long 2-strip jointed pieces at 895 or 387 mm resulting in a coherent material collection
3  Packing & mixing
We sort our 8 different species/finishes so that we can control percentages when delivering a mix floor
4  Ready to lay
The boards simply need no further work. They arrive with tongue and groove and are ready to be laid in a myriad of different patterns

90's
Two boards turned 90 degrees, in an alternative wood and finish from the remaining floor, create a woven effect, like two fabrics being knitted together to create an intricate, yet simple pattern.
Crooked Herring
This pattern gives a twist to the traditional herringbone plank floor. Each floorboard consists of two rows of staves and is laid in this uneven pattern and in a mix of species and finishes the floor offers new experiences depending on the view angle.
Banded
The pattern runs in one direction, with the row staggering alternating between 129 mm and 450 mm. This creates an effect of the boards being coupled two and two, whilst still blending somewhat into each other.
Water marks
 Beautiful and unique patterns
Edge gaps
 Smaller superficial, unfilled edge gaps
Knots
Filled knots and holes
Small cracks
 Smaller superficial checks or cracks

As flooring, industrially upcycled products are to be purchased and used, in this case: a:gain Funderø parquet floors. The floors consist of surplus and leftovers from Junckers and have been developed in collaboration with a:gain and are marketed and sold by a:gain.

The floors are desired to be in [choose between the two] wood mix beech and maple / wood mix oak/maple. The floors are desired to be in the pattern [choose between the three] 90’s / Crooked Herringbone / Banded.
Generic tender text, EU Tender Rules
As flooring, industrially upcycled parquet floors that are produced/designed from surplus and rejected wood from a Danish floor manufacturing company, are to be purchased and used. The floors must be 21.8 mm ± 2 mm, solid, and come from an ISO14001 certified production company with FSC/PEFC certified wood.

The floors are desired to be in [choose between the two] wood mix beech and maple / wood mix oak/maple. The floors are desired to be in the pattern [choose between the three] 90-degree alignment of planks on each other’s axis / herringbone style / banded. The waste source must be digitally managed in the process to ensure that a) no hazardous substances are included, b) traceability is maintained, and c) the wood used has the correct moisture content and complies with the guidelines for WOOD information.

The supplier must be able to show that internal and external LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) calculations have been performed. There must be an installation guide as well as an operation and maintenance manual for the product. Installation must be carried out by a specialized company with many years of experience in the field. The supplier must have a minimum of 5 completed project references with the specified product. The manufacturer must be a member of a major Danish trade organization. The product must have an available ENV 5.1 supplier declaration on their website in connection with the EU taxonomy.

For the sake of social sustainability and job creation in connection with the green transition, as well as minimal transport of materials, the wood must come from the Danish market and be upcycled in Denmark.

Where do you source the wood? Is it FSC certified?
Funderø is upcycled from offcuts, originating from JUNCKERS’ flooring production. Around 2/3 of the wood origins from FSC and PEFC certified forestry in Denmark, Germany, Poland or Sweden.

What defects can occur on the planks? How many defects are there?

All planks have qualities of different types that leads to them being discards in production. Most of them are visual such as knots, water damages, off-coloured surface finish, etc. They can also be smaller physical qualities such as cracks, smaller gaps, uneven surface finish, etc. Lastly and least common are larger physical qualities that should be repaired such as larger cracks, missing knots, gaps in the wood etc. For more info on qualities and their quantities please read our surface quality sheet found in our Download Centre.
Can I choose a different combination of wood types?
Funderø comes in a standard combination of either beech and maple or oak and ash. The chosen combination is also in a mix of a glossier and matter surface treatment, one for each wood. While we do not recommend another combination of these wood types, if your project is large enough and it would fit the occasion – reach out to us and we can discuss your preferred combination.
Does the floor need treatment after installation?
The floor is pre treated with a lacquer but filling of bigger holes and cracks is needed. The boards are discarded in production and contain a wider spectrum of surface qualities than a virgin material standard flooring. We suggest that only the bigger cavities are repaired. Expect 10 fillings per 50 m2. For more info on qualities and their quantities please read our surface quality sheet found in our Download Centre.
Can I mount the planks in a different pattern?
We do not recommend mounting the planks in a different pattern than the ones we specify. The quantities delivered will be specific for the intended pattern, specified upon order.
