Nude
Like your honest, pure wood? Try our ‘Nude’ wax, which will appear invisible, but protect the product nonetheless, leaving you with an evergreen, classic wooden look.
Black coffee
Enjoy a luxurious, deep colour profile in our ‘Black Coffee’ wax, which will lift any room to one fit for the director. With the wood grain teetering between black and dark brown, it is a finish you will not get tired of any time soon.
Deep Sea
For those more adventurous our signature ‘Deep Sea’ blue wax will leave the wood with a fresh, yet rich blue look. Packed will colourful surprise, it a daring, yet stylish finish.
Fire
For a fireproofed product, we only use cradle-to-cradle certified treatments. Contact us for more information

Origin
The wood originates from Germany, harvested sustainably to maintain a healthy forest. Carefully selected trees are cut down without harming the environment. The Danish manufacturing prioritises eco-friendly practices, utilising bio-based fuel and wind energy. Flawed materials from regular production, such as large knots or uneven planing, are repurposed by a:gain, ensuring zero waste.

We take our Douglas Fir wood from a Danish wood manufacturer. The wood was discarded because of knots and cracks

The wood is then processed at Overgaard Wood, in Fredericia. Here the wood is first rough cut for production
Profiling:
We seek to minimise the number of different profiles so that our manufacturing is agile. Furthermore, we always cut profiles that are optimised to the material
Manufacturing:

Finish
Our waterborne wax comes in 3 colours, you can select between them in the left hand menu. The wax is sprayed on and needs no maintenance. It is possible to repaint the wax, should the colour need a touch up, after many years.
q: Does Flarø Douglas contain any dangerous components or toxic materials?
a: No, Flarø Douglas enters our manufacturing line untreated, and we only treat it with a water-soluble wax. When we burn block the material, it is with a cradle-to-cradle certified solution. For more info contact us.
q: How much of the Flarø Douglas is waste based?
a: Flarø Douglas is made from 100% discarded Douglas fir. In case a glass fibre membrane is added for firestop reasons, the horizontal braces will be replaced with offcut plywood.
q: What kind of tolerance is expected?
a: Expect tolerances of max. 1mm pr m.
q: What is Flarø Douglas made of and how do you source it?
a: Flarø Douglas is made from discarded material from a leading Danish wood manufacturer.
q: How can I adjust or alter Flarø Douglas post purchase?
a: The panel is joined together with soft nails and a regular wood glue. This can be cut through with a regular circular saw and a new brace can be added to the back, we deliver this with the panel if required. We are currently working on exchanging glue and nails for a screw-joined solution.
q: How should I handle the panel to not damage it?
a: To be certain that the surface treatment is not damaged unnecessarily, do not take the panel out of its original packaging prior to the moment you need to install it. If you do need to check the quality of the panels or have concerns over the finish, be sure to handle with care if you need to re-package the material. The wax finish is very sturdy, but ultimately not completely resistant to scratching.

q: How is Flarø Douglas manufactured?<
a: The material is sawn, planed and cut to length at our partner Overgaard Wood in Fredericia. The panel is then joined together with soft nails and a regular wood glue. We are currently working on exchanging glue and nails for a screw-joined solution.
q: What measures do you take towards ethical production of Flarø Douglas?
a: Overgaard Wood is a socio-economically responsible business, that employs several people, who have been out of the job market for prolonged periods.
q: Where is the product manufactured?
a: The product is manufactured in Denmark and made from waste also collected in Denmark. The wood originates in Germany.
q: Do you offer end-of-life take-back models?
a: For larger projects, we are happy to discuss an agreement to take back material at its end-of-life or at a reasonable set date. For your specific inquiries reach out to us.
q: How is the material recycled?
a: The wood can be treated like any other wooden product. It can be repainted, stripped, sawn, planed, etc. Otherwise, it can be handed over to a recycling station in the ‘Wood’ section.
q: Do you offer other colours?
a: For larger projects, such as a whole office building or an entire floor, we can have new colours developed, however, for smaller projects the 4 colours showcased on this page are our standard.
q: Do you offer other dimensions outside of your standards?
a: We can customize the product at an extra cost; please reach out to us with your specific request.
q: Which standards sizes do you provide?
a: Information at the top the page.
q: How many DGNB-points does Flarø Douglas add in a DGNB project?
a: Please reach out to us. We are currently in progressing dialogue with Green Building Council Denmark but cannot as of today mention anything concrete in this forum.
q: Which international regulations does Flarø Douglas adhere to?
a: Our products all adhere to Danish standards and should be fine for implementation in most other EU countries. If you would like us to advise you on your specific case, please reach out to us.
q: What kind of documentation and certifications can you provide for Flarø Douglas?
We can provide an SDS (Safety Data Sheets) on the wax
q: Which measures do you take toward the traceability of the materials used in Flarø Douglas?
a: Any waste source we manage, we research thoroughly and seek to trace back as far as we can. Our supplier ensures the origin of the material and that the wood is clean, free of toxic materials, etc, before it is handed over to us, from there we have complete internal awareness of the manufacturing line.
q: Is it possible to find the product in any digital databases such as Materialepas?
a: We are currently in dialogue with the team behind Materialepas and plan on Fusø being accessible on their platform in the near future.
q: Does Flarø Douglas appear in internal or external calculation or design software, such as Exigo, Visma etc?
a: Not currently.
q: Does Flarø Douglas appear in external databases such as Miljøportalen.dk, BASTA, Sundahus etc.?
a: Not currently.
q: Do you have downloadable 3D assets, such as BIM, Revit families etc.?
a: We do not currently have BIM objects of our products; however, we are happy to help how we can, such as providing .3DM, .DXF, .DWG files etc.

q: Does a purchase include technical support, design sparring, illustrations, technical drawings, etc.?
a: Depending on the scale of the project we can offer knowledge sharing, sparring and technical support for your project. For small projects we can only refer to the information on the website, however, we naturally answer any questions you might have. Please reach out with your specific project.
q: Do you offer knowledge-sharing sessions?
a: We are happy to come to your office or building site, share our experiences with the product, and answer technical questions to the best of our ability. We are also happy to arrange tours of our office and showroom. For more information, please contact us. Note: This is pending our internal schedule and size of project.
q: Do you offer support for graphic material about the product/materials?
a: We have a standard poster, which we can edit to your specific situation. The poster describes the journey from waste to final product implemented in your project. We are also happy to spar with you or your graphic team if you wish to create something yourselves. which is specified to your graphical identity.
q: How do I purchase Flarø Douglas?
a: For inquiries about Flarø Douglas or other a:gain products, please reach out to us. For offices, public institutions, etc we also deliver products through Daarbak Design.
q: Can I purchase Flarø Douglas as a private customer?
a: B2C is not our focus and we do not target B2C. However, purchases can be arranged. Please reach out to us.
q: Do you deliver outside of Denmark?
a: Yes, however, depending on the destination, this will have an impact on delivery cost. Please reach out with your specific request.
q: Is there a minimum order size?
a: Not formally, however, delivery cost diminishes significantly for larger orders.
q: What are expected delivery times?
a: For orders of < 10 panels, expect 4 - 5 working weeks delivery time. For orders of 10 – 25, expect 4 - 6 working weeks delivery time. For orders of > 25, expect 6 - 8 working weeks delivery time.
q: Do you offer express delivery?
a: Yes, however, because of high demand or if you wish to place a large order, our production might still require time deliver. In this case express delivery may have a negligible effect on delivery time. On smaller orders this is usually not the case.
q: What guarantees or warranties follows with purchase the of Flarø Douglas?
a: The regular 2-year warranty applies. We guarantee the quality of the product, however, encourage customers to see and experience the product prior to purchase, especially for larger orders. We are happy to provide samples and reference projects where the product can be seen. For bigger projects, you can also request a mock-up at a price. For your specific request please reach out to us.
q: How do I file a complaint with you?
